Since July, our new program, Immerse: Executive English Greenville, has given several international professionals the chance to improve their English while exploring Greenville and mixing with the locals.
Andrea, from Germany, and Petr, from the Czech Republic, both recently finished 50-hour and 60-hour Immerse programs, respectively. Andrea spread her program over three weeks to allow time for quick trips to Las Vegas and New York with friends. Petr fit his program into two weeks by staying local, aside from a weekend trip to Atlanta.
Andrea and Petr both received the standard face-to-face diagnostic assessment of their English via Skype several weeks before their programs began. Based on that and a personal interest survey, their Immerse programs were fully customized with the teachers and activities best suited to their goals and personalities.
Andrea wanted a lot of speaking and listening practice and enjoys outdoor activities. Her Immerse program included a hiking trip to Chimney Rock to see peak fall foliage, with stops at Flat Rock Village Bakery for lunch and Skytop Orchard for apples. Petr requested a business focus, with emphasis on reading and writing, so his teachers designed his lessons to improve those skills. He also learned phrases for business negotiation and attended two English conversation events with local internationals, as well as hiking and climbing activities.
To further “learn by doing,” both Petr and Andrea also had private lessons in coffee and tea shops in downtown Greenville, visited the library and museums, attended a Greenville Road Warriors ice hockey game, and went to a dinner party in an American home.
“All Immerse teachers are very friendly, punctual and professional people,” Andrea commented. “Great lessons, great teachers, great time!”
