Quarterly Update, Spring 2019

Quarterly Update, Spring 2019

Dear expats and friends,

Warmer days, pink and white blossoms fluttering down to green grass — spring has arrived in Greenville! Here’s what’s happening in our office these days, starting with a closer look at one of the lesser-known but vital services we offer to expat families: guardianship documentation.

Guardianship: Wetzel Services helps expat families with the preparation of the Appointment of Guardianship document, which protects minor children in the event of death or disability of both parents while living in the United States. By having an Appointment of Guardianship prepared, signed, witnessed, and notarized, parents gain peace of mind that they have made their wishes known regarding who would become their children’s legal guardian, rather than leaving the matter to the court system. If you are an HR professional and have expats working for your company who might need this service, please give us a call to talk about how we could help provide it.

Charitable Involvement: Part of our mission at Wetzel Services is to help others, so in the past year we have made a concerted effort to get to know charities we can support both financially and with our time. Our goal was to find organizations that are local, serve a broad range of people, offer volunteer opportunities, and put on events that we could sponsor. Using these criteria, we identified four different organizations that we admire and have chosen to assist:

Loaves and Fishes – collects food for agencies that deliver it to those in need.

Carolina Dance Collaborative – provides quality dance education to a wide population.

Project Host – soup kitchen, and also a culinary school for unemployed/underemployed people.

Safe Harbor – serves victims of domestic violence.

Over the past several months we have financially sponsored and attended fundraising events, organized a canned food drive, and participated in a Christmas gift drive. In addition, many of us have volunteered with the organizations individually. We’re lucky to have such dedicated, caring, and passionate people in our community, and Wetzel Services is honored to associate with and support them.

BMW Supplier Diversity Conference: Several Wetzel team members joined more than 2,000 representatives of Tier 1 and smaller suppliers at the annual BMW Supplier Diversity Conference, held at the Greenville Convention Center on April 4. The BMW Supplier Diversity Conference gives suppliers and community partners a chance to meet and connect with each other, as well as with companies owned by women, minorities and veterans. The Wetzel team touched base with current clients and got acquainted with potential new partners. Thanks to BMW for another successful conference!

And thanks to you for being our clients and partners. Let us know what we can do to help you as spring turns to summer — whether it’s listing your house for sale or rent, assisting your expat employees as they move to Greenville on assignment, or taking a set of language lessons. We are here to help!
