Meet Laura, Our German Language Program Coordinator

My name is Laura Schmidt, and I’ve just joined the Wetzel team as the German Language Program Coordinator. My interest in Germany started in high school when I had the opportunity to fly there with my German class. I was quickly charmed by the villages and cities, the people, the train system, the food, and the language. I continued studying German in college, and actually worked at Wetzel Services during part of that time. Wetzel gave me opportunities to practice my German, which I loved!

I always hoped to one day live in Germany. While I haven’t had that chance, I’m lucky to have had several extended trips. I’ve been able to enjoy the things I love, and also to hone my language skills. My favorite time of year to visit Germany is Christmastime. My last visit was a few years ago, and I was able to visit many Weihnachtsmärkte!  

Aside from the German side of things, I pursued a Nursing degree and worked as an RN until having my first child last summer. My husband Kevin and I met playing volleyball about 4 years ago, and got married 3 years ago. We welcomed our first child one year ago (little Kev). We enjoy traveling together near and far; from small towns around Greenville to my husband’s native land of California.

I loved my time working at Wetzel in the past, and I am excited to be back on the team!
