Welcome, Aeimee!

Wetzel Languages has enjoyed unprecedented growth over the past couple of years. We have introduced and expanded our group German classes (to include offering the Goethe test), and we are in the process of doing the same with our Spanish program. In order to meet demand and our goals, we needed more help. Happily, we found it, and we are pleased to introduce our new Language Program Support Specialist, Aeimee Chen-Stinson.

Aeimee is new to South Carolina, and she has taken a circuitous route getting here. She was born in Malaysia, and moved with her family to Minnesota at the age of sixteen. She completed high school and attended college there. While in university, she met her husband, whose pursuit of a PhD took them to Eugene, Oregon for four years. Following that was a stint in Fargo, North Dakota, and then fifteen years in Washington state. During this time, Aeimee and her husband welcomed two sons. As they grew up, she was primarily a stay-at-home mom, but she also taught pre-school, worked as her church’s secretary, and became a self-taught baker. Her skills became advanced enough to sell her wedding cakes!

Eventually, Aeimee began suggesting a move to South Carolina. Her own family had decided to move here to escape the Minnesota winters, and Aeimee was anxious to be close to them. Happily, her husband agreed and accepted a position at USC Upstate last year. Aeimee, by now an empty nester, was eager to meet people, and joined Upstate International. A friend there told her about our job opening and that she would be perfect, and so she came to join us in mid-June.

Aeimee is enjoying her work with Wetzel Languages, which includes a variety of responsibilities that keep the department going. She tracks attendance, student lists, and calendars, checks in with students and teachers on progress, orders books, creates marketing material, and maintains our website, among other things. She loves learning new things, so the varied nature of the job suits her well. Aside from the actual work, Aeimee is happy to be in a smaller office with very nice people.

We’re always happy to add another very nice person, so welcome to Aeimee! We’re fortunate to have her helping us to serve our clients even better.
